Daily Recap: Friday, July 17, 2009

Date: Friday, July 17

Garden Nef Party, France

Roundup:

- The curious case of the disappearing twitter posts. Seriously. What happened to yesterday's twitter posts (as posted in the Thursday, July 16 recap)? They've magically disappeared. Spooky.

- Not much news, a few pictures, and a very happy birthday.

News:

- A very brief review of Tonight. They seem more indifferent towards the album than anything else. [Read More.]

- Are they really Scottish? The short answer is - yes. [Read More.]

Interviews:

- An interview was done with Alex & Bob at the Gurten Festival. [Download.]

Videos:

- None.

Twitter Updates:

- In a tent in a field in France. Phoenix are onstage.

- Watching Vitalic. Hypnotic. Terrifying. Punishing.

- Boss Hog just gave us a shout out! I want to go and tell my 16 yr old self this right now.

Photos:

- Photos from Bern (yesterday's performance). [See More.]

- More photos from Bern (source). [See More.]

Other:

- Turns out it was Michael Parker’s birthday yesterday (July 16). If anyone knows how old he is, that'd be a plus. Happy (belated) birthday, Mr. Plaid-loving-I-don’t-smile-in-photos. And just to reiterate, Parker is awesome. Listen to Alex's birthday shout out at their gig last night. [Download.]

- According to late night television web pages, Franz Ferdinand are listed as the musical guests on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on July 31. I remain skeptical that this is actually a new performance (since they’re scheduled to be in Portugal the day before and Ferguson generally doesn’t tape on Friday). It might have been pre-taped from the last time they were on, or it might just be a repeat of ‘Ulysses’. But in case you missed it, here's [Ferguson’s interview] with Alex & [their performance] of ‘Ulysses’.

  1. Parkerrrr!
Too bad his birthday's not closer to late August... I would have so gotten him a present. I still could, I suppose, but I fear he might just give me a shifty look and walk away...

  2. I believe that would happen regardless. I was thinking about getting a gift too. We could collaborate!
